SALE OF GOODS AGREEMENT
When is a sale agreement used?
When goods are sold for a significant price, or delivered later than they are paid for: machinery, stock, furniture, equipment, livestock, a business’s assets. It records what was sold and what the buyer can do if the goods are not as described.
Signing and where it goes
Seller and buyer both sign it, each keeps a copy, and the delivery note or receipt is attached when the goods arrive.
Points to get right
- Describe the goods so precisely that there can be no argument later: model, serial numbers, quantity, quality.
- Say whether the price includes delivery and tax.
- If the goods are used and sold as seen, change the warranty clause as the template shows.
- For land, buildings or vehicles, use a document made for that purpose; this one is for goods.
How to fill it in
- Press Open in editor, or download the Word file to fill it in on your computer.
- Replace every blank line with your own details, and delete the clauses and choices that do not apply.
- Read it through once more as the other party would read it.
- In the editor, press Print / PDF to make a PDF, or Word in the File tab to save a Word file.
Before you sign
These templates are general forms written to save time, not legal advice. The law differs from country to country and changes, and a paper about property, money or employment has legal effect. Fill in every blank, delete what does not apply, check the result against the law where you are, and have an important document reviewed by a lawyer before it is signed.
