How an Urdu letter is set out
- Place and date at the top: the city, then مورخہ and the date.
- Greeting: پیارے / محترم and the name, then السلام علیکم.
- Body: ask after their health, then your news or your request.
- Closing: تمہارا مخلص دوست, آپ کا فرماں بردار بیٹا, or العارض in a formal letter, then your name.
