How to edit a Word file online
- Press Choose a Word file and pick your .docx, or drop it on the box. It opens as a page, laid out like it is in Word.
- Click anywhere in the text and type, just as you would in Word. Press Enter for a new line.
- Press Download Word to save your file, named “(edited)”. Press Print / PDF to print it or keep it as a PDF.
The formatting stays exactly as it was
Most online converters read your document, rebuild it and hand you a new file whose fonts, spacing and tables have shifted. This tool works the other way round: it writes only the words you changed back into your own file. The styles, numbering, tables, pictures, headers, footers, page size and margins inside the .docx are never touched, so the file you download opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages just as the original did.
For files from Google Docs, Pages and old Word
A Google Doc can be downloaded as a .docx from File › Download › Microsoft Word, and a Pages document exported from File › Export To › Word. An old .doc file from Word 97–2003 has to be saved as .docx first (File › Save As in Word).

Do I need Microsoft Word?
No. The file is opened and saved in your browser. The downloaded .docx opens in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages.
Will my fonts, tables and pictures be kept?
Yes. Only the text you change is written back into the file, so everything else inside it stays exactly as it was.
Why does the page look a little different from Word?
The page on screen is drawn by your browser, which may not have the same fonts as Word and does not split the text into pages. The file you download is still your original with your words changed, and it looks as it always did when opened in Word.
Can I open a .doc file?
Not directly. Open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, save it as .docx, and choose that file here.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The document never leaves your device. There is no server that receives it.
Can I edit a Word file on my phone?
Yes. It works in the browser on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers.
