How to convert InPage to Unicode

1. Open the editor and go to the File tab.
2. Press Open file and choose your .inp file — or drag the file onto the page.
3. The Urdu text appears on the page as Unicode. Correct or format it if you wish.
4. Press Copy to paste it elsewhere, or save it as Word, PDF or a text file.

Why convert InPage text to Unicode?

InPage keeps Urdu in its own private encoding. Copy that text into a browser, a phone or Word and it turns into meaningless symbols. Unicode is the standard every modern app understands, so converted text can be searched, edited, emailed, posted online and read on any phone.

Which InPage files are supported?

Urdulik reads .inp files saved by versions of InPage before version 3 — the classic format most archives of Urdu books, newspapers and composing work are kept in. The text, line breaks, digits and diacritics are carried over. Page layout, pictures and text boxes of the original are not; the converter gives you the words, ready to lay out again.

Your file stays on your device

The conversion is done by your own browser. The file is not uploaded to any server, which matters for unpublished manuscripts, legal papers and clients’ work.

After converting

Set the text in Jameel Noori Nastaleeq or another font, fix Arabic-style letters with one button, lay out poetry as verses, and print. The same editor opens Word (.docx) and PDF files too, and can turn the text into a poster.
