How to type Arabic online

  1. Click in the box above and type. Each English key gives the letter of the standard Arabic (101) layout: H is ا, F is ب, J is ت, G is ل.
  2. Hold Shift for the harakat and the hamza: Shift + Q is fatha (َ), Shift + E is damma (ُ), Shift + A is kasra (ِ), Shift + H is أ, Shift + Y is إ, Shift + N is آ.
  3. Press Copy text and paste it into WhatsApp, Facebook, Gmail or Word. It is Unicode Arabic and shows correctly everywhere.
  4. For a letter, an application or a page of notes, press Open in editor. The editor opens with Arabic menus and right-to-left text.

The standard Arabic layout

This is the layout printed on Arabic keyboards in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Gulf and most of the Arab world, so what you learn here works on a real Arabic keyboard too. On a phone, tap the letters on screen or use your phone’s own Arabic keyboard in the same box.

Writing a full Arabic document

The Urdulik editor has headings, tables, page sizes and Naskh, Kufi and Ruqaa fonts such as Amiri, Noto Naskh Arabic, Reem Kufi and Aref Ruqaa. Download your work as Word, PDF or a picture. You can also open a PDF and type Arabic on it, or edit the words of a PDF you already have.

Urdulik’s front page is also in Arabic: العربية.
