رسید وصولیِ رقم
When is a payment receipt needed?
A receipt is proof that money was paid. It should be given for every advance, instalment of a price, month of rent or repayment of a loan made in cash, and it is worth having even when payment goes through a bank.
Where it goes
The person who pays keeps the original. The person who receives should keep a copy or a counterfoil. By long practice a revenue stamp is fixed on a receipt for a larger sum and the signature is written across it; the amount above which this applies is set by provincial stamp law.
Points to get right
- Write the amount in figures and in words.
- Say what the payment is for: “advance against plot no. …”, “rent for March”, “second instalment of the loan dated …”.
- Say how it was paid. For a cheque or transfer, give the number and bank.
- Where it is a part payment, write the balance still due.
- The person receiving signs, with name and CNIC number. A witness helps for larger sums.

These are general formats to save typing. Requirements differ between offices, courts and provinces, and a paper about property or money has legal effect. Have the final wording checked by a deed writer or lawyer, use stamp paper of the correct value, and get the paper attested or registered where that is required.
